Night Lecture 2016

This public Night Lecture has taken place in Mainz, Germany, on May 12, 2016 and has been organized by W.E.G. Müller (UMC-Mainz) together with colleagues from the Center BioMATiCS at the University Medical Center Mainz and the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. The topic of his lecture was: “From Molecule Biology to 3D Printing”. About 300 persons attended this Night lecture, which has found considerable attention in the local and regional newspapers.

BlueGenics Dissemination Event in Shanghai, China 2016

The coordinator of BlueGenics project, W.E.G. Müller, and project partner X.H. Wang performed a Dissemination event in Shanghai, China, in cooperation with the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences. This dissemination event has been performed in parallel with the dissemination event in Chengdu during the visit to China from 9-17 July 2016. The results and products of the project and their possible applications were presented and discussed with the audience, in particular the products developed for wound healing and potential treatment of osteoporosis, developed in cooperation with the SME partner NanotecMARIN GmbH. The audience consisting of both of scientists from academia and industrial researchers, as well as physicians from hospitals.

BlueGenics Dissemination Event in Chengdu, China 2016

The BlueGenics coordinator, W.E.G. Müller, and project partner X.H. Wang performed a Dissemination event in Chengdu, China, where they presented the products, developed in the frame of the BlueGenics project, in particular the products developed by the partners UMC-Mainz, NRCGA-CAGS and the SME partner NanotecMARIN GmbH to an audience consisting of industrial researchers, researchers from academia and potential customers. The main event was in Chengdu. There was a special interest in the novel approaches, developed in the BlueGenics project, for wound healing, in particular delayed wound healing, and in the application of electrospinning procedures for the fabrication of bioactive wound dressings. Moreover, novel strategies and compounds/compound combinations for the therapy of osteoporotic bone disorders were discussed, in particular the application of quercetin/quercetin derivatives and their synergistic effects with inorganic polyphosphates, as well as the application of carbonic anhydrase activators (quinolinic acid, the first carbonic anhydrase activator acting on bone mineralization that has been discovered – one main result of BlueGenics project). The carbonic anhydrase is a new target for therapy of bone disorders with an impaired balance between bone anabolism and bone catabolism, like osteoporosis. In addition to the event in Chengdu, there was a second major dissemination events in Shanghai (see below), as well as several meetings with potential customers/users within the period 09.07.-24.07.2016.
